Kushinda!Zimbabwe 2011

An evening of Zimbabwe food and culture with Dumi Senda, poet and ambassadorial speaker from Zimbabwe.

6 pm - 9.30 pm

Relax and enjoy the flavour of Zimbabwe's culinary and cultural traditions as Dumi reads his inspirational poetry.

The evening will also feature readings of poetry from the work of Philani Nyoni and Mbizo Chirasha.

Kushinda!Zimbabwe! June 18th and June 19th 2010 Llandudno and Llanfairfechan

Dumi Senda, poet and motivational speaker, made his first visit to Wales as Kushinda's special guest.

Dumi performed his poetry and talk and took questions on his work and on Zimbabwe, with additional readings of selected poems from the contrasting pens of Philani Nyoni and Mbizo Chirasha read by Bernard Gregory.

Live music was provided by London-based musician/songwriters Rebecca Jade and Pete Greenwood, Zimbabwe-themed activity sheets were also on hand to keep the children entertained!

March 2010 at the Blue Sky Cafe featured A taste of poetry from Kushinda contributors Kingwa Kamencu (Kenya), Tsepo Gumbi (South Africa) and, for a truly interntaional flavour, Vlado Franjevic of Croatia and Leichtenstein, MP3 music by IDTwins (Uganda) John Maina (Kenya) We had music from singer and songwriter Rebecca Jade of Wales and London, including a specially commissioned musical interpretation of a new poem by Kingwa Kamencu - another Kushinda collaboration!

Our first live arts event GLOW!kushinda! took place at Colwyn Bay, North Wales, in December 2009. Featuring live music, African music, African art, and poetry by special guest Kingwa Kamencu of Kenya, this all-day free entry event was a great success!
